Rights Respecting School Award

Rights Respecting Schools

The Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA) recognises achievement in putting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) at the heart of a school’s planning, policies, practice and ethos. A rights-respecting school not only teaches about children’s rights but also models rights and respect in all its relationships: between teachers / adults and pupils, between adults and between pupils.

We are proud to be working in partnership with UNICEF to officially become a Rights Respecting School. This means we put the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) at the heart of everything we do. We will promote children’s rights and empower them to become global citizens.

We have already established a steering group and held workshops to take account of all pupils views and ideas about becoming better at respecting each other. We are very excited about working towards a Rights Respecting Schools Award and look forward to sharing our work with friends, family and the wider community. This will be done through our school displays, website, assemblies and events.
