Term 2

Term 2

Term 2

The children have all settled back in to the class routines and are ready for a busy term ahead with lots of fun and interesting things to learn.

In Maths the children will continue to work on numbers to 100 but our main focus this term will be on using a variety of strategies to add and subtract within 10 and 20. The children will also be learning about money and information handling.

In Literacy and Language the children will continue to learn new sounds and develop their reading skills through Bug Club. They will be working hard to up-level their sentences to make their writing more interesting for the reader. We will also continue to work on handwriting, forming both upper and lowercase letters and alphabetical order creating our own personal dictionaries.

In our current Scottish topic we are learning Scots for lots of different animals, birds and insects as well as a bit more about Scotland in general. We all learned the special Clober ceilidh dance and some of us performed it at our school Scottish assembly.  After this we will learn all about Food and Farming in our local area.

In Science we will look at Living things, sorting animals in to groups and carrying out experiments to see what plants need to grow healthily.

The children are already creating a simple dance routine with a partner in P.E. and will also be working on improving both their gymnastics and ball skills.

We will continue to discuss different feelings and helpful ways of dealing with them through PATHS and talk about what different ways we can keep our bodies healthy.

I hope you are enjoying sharing in your children’s learning this month and I look forward to seeing everyone’s work every Friday.
