Upper School's Scottish Assembly

Upper School's Scottish Assembly

On January 24th we held a very special Scottish Assembly. Parents and friends were invited to join us
for refreshments and shortbread while celebrating various aspects of our Scottish culture.

Head Teacher, Mr Bremner welcomed everyone to the second part of our celebration
from our Upper School which would include songs, a quiz, dancing and a play with a twist!.
We hope you enjoy this selection of photographs taken on the day!

Our celebration began with a superb 'Hogmanay Reel', played on the cello...

....followed by Primary 5's traditional fairytale, 'Snaw White' (note the Scottish twist)!

There were tricky quizzes on Scottish personalities, super poems, fantastic singing
and brilliant pieces of Scots prose from P4, P6 and P7 which the audience certainly enjoyed!

Mr Bremner paused our Scottish Assembly to make a very exciting announcement.
He praised all the fantastic efforts that our PTA do throughout the year as
PTA Chairperson, Mrs Gilkes presented the school with a magnificent £4500!!

Our Assembly would not have been complete...

...without some lively P6 Scottish dancing!

They wowed everyone with their Scottish reels!

Just like the professionals!

Before our finale, Mr Bremner announced the winner of our 'very' Scottish raffle....

...the winning ticket belonging to Mrs Webber!

Finally, it was fitting that P7 asked the audience to join them in singing Robert Burns'
most famous song, synonymous with Scotland, 'Auld Lang Syne'!

Mr Bremner congratulated the children for their fantastic performance
and his staff too, for all their hard work in producing such a brilliant event!

The informal setting of our Scottish Assembly had, once again, been a big hit with everyone!
As they left the hall, the audience were piped out by Douglas Owler and...

....all our hard work producing our Scottish Assembly,
judging by the positive feedback we received,
 had been very worthwhile!

Haste Ye Back!
